Eighth-grader commits suicide

RAWALPINDI: An eighth-grader committed suicide after his parents scolded him for not studying well enough.

The mother found the 17-year-old victim, Arslan Salamat, hanged in his room when she went to wake him up for school.

No suicide note was recovered and the body was handed over to the boy’s father after the completion of legal formalities, according to police.

The father had scolded Arslan for playing too much cricket and not focusing on his studies, said Sub-Inspector Liaquat Ali.
