NSC meeting mulls over security, border issues

The National Security Committee (NSC) on Tuesday discussed the country’s security situation, border issues and other pressing matters, a private news channel reported.

According to the report, the top civilian and military leadership reviewed the implementation of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) reforms, the situation at the eastern and western borders, operations that were undertaken to dismantle terrorists and were later given a briefing on the progress on the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) demands.

“Pakistan is likely to share the steps implemented to eliminate terrorism in the FATF meeting expected to be held next month,” the report said.

Furthermore, the hullabaloo surrounding controversial book The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace, which has been co-authored by former chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen (r) Asad Durrani and former chief of India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) AS Dulat also came under discussion

The meeting was also briefed on new visa policy. The meeting while expressing satisfaction over the briefing stressed upon the authorities to take measures to keep the system operational.

However, the NSC ordered an immediate suspension of issuance of visas on arrival to foreigners.

The meeting strong condemned Indian forces brutalities in Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirmed their resolve to continue their moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmir cause.

The NSC also condemned Israel’s action against innocent Palestine people and urged the international community to take notice of human right violations in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
