Trump gets a lesson in grammar

A retired English teacher Yvonne Mason residing in Georgia received a letter from The White House earlier this month. From what it seemed, it was a response to her letter that highlighted the issue of school and community safety amid ongoing violence in the United States.

What is so interesting about the letter you wonder?

Well, being an English teacher, it was a kind of a reflex we’d say that instead of being overwhelmed about receiving the letter, Yvonne ended up fixing the mistakes and sending the letter back to The White House.

The picture of the letter, that went viral on Facebook clearly showed that there is a dire need for an editor back at The White House.

Some highlighted points here, and some comments there, she definitely knew what she was doing.

A comment on the letter stated, “Have ya’ll tried grammar style check?” The asterisks showed that this is something that the people at The White House need to focus on.

Moreover, she corrected the style errors in the letter, which included 11 examples of incorrect capitalisation of words such as ‘president’ and ‘state’. From the comments, one could tell that she was clearly frustrated after going through the mistakes on this one.

“OMG this is so WRONG,” she remarked after circling the incorrect capitalisation. For all we know she’d probably be screaming and pulling her hair in frustration.

For a grammar nazi, this letter would have been the death of him/her. Lucky for Yvonne, she survived and so did Trump. But we are sure this is a grammar lesson that he’ll never forget.

GO YVONNE!
