LAHORE: Former Pakistani batsman Hasan Raza said that video shown by Al-Jazeera was an old one and is being used to “trap him”.

Talking to media, Raza said that video is from Ajman where he went for a local tournament.

A video is making rounds in which Hasan Raza can be seen sitting with an individual talking about spot-fixing in T20 tournaments.  “I did not inform Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about going to Ajman because I am not in the central contract list hence was not in frequent contact with the board,” he said, when he suspected fixing was under discussion, he backed out from the discussion.

He ensured complete cooperation with PCB and International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the investigation into the allegations.

Meanwhile, PCB Anti Corruption Unit has announced investigation against the former batsman.

Former Pakistan batsman Hasan Raza has been filmed on camera by news channel Al Jazeera in the same room as another former cricketer – Robin Morris from Mumbai – talks about facilitating spot-fixing in T20 tournaments.

According to Cricinfo, Raza does not participate in the conversation between Morris and the undercover reporter but is seated in the chair adjacent to Morris. Raza and Morris both played for Mumbai Champs, a team in the now-defunct Indian Cricket League between 2007-08.

Al Jazeera said Hasan Raza did not respond to its allegations, while Morris “denies any wrongdoing” and said the channel invited him “to audition for and act in, a commercial movie ‘for public entertainment’.”
