Kulsoom’s health improving following medical treatment

LONDON: The health of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, a senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N and wife of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has improved following medical treatment for throat cancer here in British capital, a private TV channel reported.

Begum Kulsoom, the member-elect of the National Assembly, underwent surgery in 2017 to remove diseased lymph nodes after she was diagnosed with throat cancer. She is still weak due to prolonged treatments but has shown signs of improvement.

Begum Kulsoom is regularly taken to the Harley Street Clinic for checkups, treatment, and follow-ups, the channel reported. In April, medical tests showed that the senior PML-N leader’s health had been worsening after her throat cancer began to spread to the rest of her body.

She underwent a surgery wherein doctors removed the cancerous tumours in her throat. Begum Kulsoom was re-hospitalised a few days ago after she vomited excessively and complained of dehydration. Upon diagnosis, her doctors suggested that she undergo radiotherapy and stay in the hospital longer.
