PDMA warns various KP cities of upcoming heatwave

ISLAMABAD: After braving rains, several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are expected to be hit by a heatwave.

The meteorological department issued relevant alerts on Friday. In addition, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) pointed out Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kohat, Karak, Lucky Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) and adjoining districts specifically at risk.

The PDMA instructed the concerned management to set up awareness camps to equip people with the knowledge of preventive measures that can be taken against heat strokes.

In addition to this, the divisional control rooms and central control room have also been mobilised to provide relief in case of emergencies in Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu and DI Khan.

It is important to note that severe heatwaves have prevailed in several parts of the country, especially in Karachi and interior Sindh.

Over 60 people were reported to have been killed in the recent heatwave in Karachi alone.
