Two martyred in Indian firing along Working Boundary

SRINAGAR: At least two persons, including a hawaldar, were martyred on Wednesday after Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing along the Working Boundary near Sialkot.

The residential areas of Sialkot along the WB are under intermittent shelling from across the border since last week.

On Friday, at least four civilians, including 3 children, were martyred as a result of the shelling, following which Pakistan had summoned the Indian high commissioner to lodge a strong protest over the ceasefire violations by Indian forces near Sialkot.

On the other hand, a mortar and gunfire battle between Indian and Pakistani forces along the border has claimed five lives–all civilians– claimed Indian officials on Wednesday.

In order to restrain the violations, Pakistan Rangers and Indian Border Security Force officers spoke by telephone on Monday following the ceasefire violations.
