Nawaz asks people to end his disqualification through power of vote

ATTOCK: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) supreme leader and ousted prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday asked the people to end his disqualification from holding public office through parliament by voting in favour of his party in large numbers during the upcoming general elections.

Addressing PML-N workers at a convention in Attock, Nawaz Sharif asked the party activist that if they wanted to end his disqualification, then they should vote for him in large numbers and make a pledge that they will not allow any disrespect to the vote.

The PML-N leader said that he was serving the people but was suddenly removed from PM office which stopped the wheel of progress in the country.

He said that in 2013, Attock and other parts of the country were facing electricity outage of 18 to 20 hours, but his government overcame the problem of energy shortages, and in future, it would take steps for generation of inexpensive electricity.

He further said that Attock now had an extensive network of roads, and new motorways were being built from Hazara to the border of China and from Peshawar to Karachi.

The former prime minister said that those who claimed to create a new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) did injustice to the people and turned the province into ruins.

He asked people to recall the days of 2013 when the country was inflicted with terrorism. “I brought electricity, restored peace in Karachi, ended extortion and stopped incidents of terrorism which were a daily occurrence in 2013. Pakistan of 2018 was better than that of 2013.”

“The claims of performance of those ruling KP were exposed and there was a visible difference in the development of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he added.

“The opponents are lying and misleading the people and claiming that after removal from office, I will become a political non-entity but people support me.”

Nawaz said that there were no allegations of stealing from the public exchequer against him and he was removed from office for taking an imaginary salary from his son.

The PML-N supreme leader recalled that he remained in jail for 14 months in Attock and Karachi and was declared a hijacker, handcuffed and tied to the seat in an aircraft.

Speaking to the people on the occasion earlier, Maryam Nawaz said that name of Nawaz Sharif was not in the Panama papers but he was put on trial, while other persons whose names were mentioned in the papers were not called for any investigation.
