Sindh CM says KCR project neglected during PPP’s ongoing tenure

— KCR included in CPEC, CM assured by Chinese delegation

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday said that his government has worked to revive the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project but due to some unfortunate reasons, it was not possible to attain a progress on KCR in this tenure of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government.

Talking to the CM, the eight-member Chinese delegation led by Norinco International President Yuan Jun said that the KCR has already been included in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

Its feasibility report and necessary approval from different departments of federal government are submitted to the Chinese authorities for necessary action.

The delegation showed interest to participate in the tendering of the KCR project, and also offered to work with Sindh government in the installation of solar power panels.

The chief minister welcomed the offer and urged them to install a plant for manufacturing solar panels in Sindh.

Further, in the meeting, the development of Dhabeji Special Economic Zone project also came under discussion and the chief minister offered the Chinese delegation to work with Sindh government.

The chief minister urged the delegation’s head to submit their proposals to the Planning and Development Department for further action.
