KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah while speaking with an eight-member Chinese delegation on Tuesday stated that although his government had failed to revive the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project in Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) last tenure, he was hopeful of it being completed in the next tenure.
The delegation which was led by Norinco International President Yuan Jun showed interest to participate in the tendering of the KCR project and also offered to work with the Sindh government for the installation of solar power panels.
Welcoming their offer and urging the delegation to install a solar panel manufacturing plant in the province, the Sindh CM said that KCR is already on the list of China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. Its feasibility report and necessary approval from different forums of the federal government have also been submitted to the Chinese authorities for necessary action.
During the meeting, development of the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone project also came under discussion.
The chief minister urged the delegation’s head to submit their proposals to the P&D department for further action regarding projects they are interested in.
Earlier, Murad during a Sindh Assembly session claimed credit for riding the metropolitan of fear and criminal activities. “We removed fear from the hearts of the people of the metropolis,” he insisted.
Taking a jibe at the opposition he said, “You should be ashamed. Anyone who does speeches without verifying information should be ashamed.”
