–Federal Education minister briefs CM over policy for promotion of education
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said that serving the masses was the foremost priority of the government and sufficient resources had been provided to improve the quality of life of the common man.
He stated this while talking to Minister of State (MoS) for Religious Affairs, Pir Aminul Hasnat and Member National Assembly (MNA) Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani who called on him here.
Shehbaz said that the government was utilising all of its resources for the welfare of the country but contrary to it, his political opponents had ignored the people in their provinces and they would have to face the music in the upcoming elections. “Both Niazi and Zardari have not solved the problems of the masses in their respective provinces,” he said while criticising Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
He said that with the grace of Allah, his government had solved the problems of the people in Punjab while Imran Khan and Asif Zardari had “joined hands only to come into power”.
MoS of Religions Affairs Pir Aminul Hasnat and MNA Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, at the occasion, reposed complete confidence in the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif and congratulated him over the successful test run of the orange line metro train in Lahore.
Pir Aminul Hasnat said that strenuous efforts had been made by the chief minister for the prosperity of the people and the masses living in other provinces acknowledged and appreciated the unusual achievements of Shehbaz.
Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said that unprecedented development had been made in rural areas under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif and the project of construction of rural roads had proved to be a game-changer for the rural economy.
Shehbaz inaugurates Institute of Neurosciences at LGH:
Chief Minister Shehbaz on Monday inaugurated the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PIN) at Lahore General Hospital.
Speaking to media representatives after the inauguration, the chief minister said that some sections of the PIN were working for the past few months but the state-of-the-art institution had fully been operationalised on Monday.
“As many as eight operation theaters have been set up which can be compared with any hospital of the developed world with regard to facilities and quality. Best doctors and other staff members are available and pathology lab has also been established at the hospital,” he said.
Separately, Shehbaz Sharif visited the Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) where he chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of the second phase of PKLI.
The chief minister while addressing the meeting said that the project was providing free of cost treatment facilities to the deserving kidney and liver patients. He maintained that efforts had been made to start the transplantation of kidney as soon as possible and disclosed that directions had been issued to the authorities concerned in this regard.
Provincial Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, chief secretary, Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute Board of Governors Chairman Dr Saeed Akhtar, P&D chairman, additional chief secretary and others were present on the occasion.
Federal Minister for Education briefs CM over policy for promotion of education:
Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Engr Muhammad Balighur Rehman called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and apprised him about various steps and policy measures taken for the promotion of education.
CM Shehbaz speaking on the occasion said that education sector was the basis of durable development as developed nations had achieved pinnacles of glory in the comity of nations through their educational standards.
“Knowledge and education are fundamental rights and Punjab government has given top priority to the promotion of education,” he said.
The chief minister said that different steps had been taken to improve the quality of education, provision of a conducive atmosphere and best facilities for research and education. He said that the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund had also been set up to provide stipends to bright but needy students.
“Similarly, deserving students are provided educational facilities through the platform of Daanish Schools where education, textbooks and uniform are provided free of cost,” he said and added that Punjab had spent sufficient funds for the provision of basic facilities in government schools established in different districts of the province.
“As a result of the steps taken by the government, hundreds of thousands of daughters of the nation are continuing their educational journey. In fact, the educational scene has totally been transformed due to the unprecedented steps of the Punjab government,” he concluded.
CM grieves over loss of lives in Lahore, Sargodha road mishaps:
Meanwhile, Shehbaz expressed a deep sense of grief over the loss of precious lives in road accidents in Lahore and Sargodha.
In a condolence message issued here, the chief minister extended his sympathies to the bereaved families and asked the administration to provide best treatment facilities to the injured.
