LARKANA: Police on Monday claimed to have killed an alleged criminal Khalid Abro in an encounter that took place in village Athar Abro within the limits of Bakrani police station near Larkana.

The relatives and heirs of the deceased rushed to Larkana and held a protest demonstration at SSP roundabout in which they chanted slogans against the police. Women of the family including Moomal Khatoon, Durran, Mahnaz, Shahnaz, Akhtiar Abro, Iqbal and other villagers complained to media that the victim was going from the village to Bakrani when police took him and killed him without any reason.

They further said that if deceased Khalid was a criminal, he should have been produced before the court. They appealed to Chief Justices of Pakistan and Sindh to order a thorough probe into the incident and punish those involved in his killing.

Meanwhile, police in a statement claimed that Khalid Abro was a criminal. They said acting on a tip-off about the availability of criminals at Pir Musafir of Bakrani police station limits, the police followed them, had an encounter with them in village Athar Abro and during firing from both sides, criminal Khalid Abro was killed on the spot.

Several criminal cases record is already with the police but more record is being called from the police stations, the statement added. Akhtiar Abro, brother of the deceased Khalid, said that police conducted a raid at their houses without any reason and killed his brother.
