Interpol yellow notices issued by FIA to track missing girls

RAWALPINDI: Yellow notices have been issued by the Interpol wing of the Federal Invesitgation Agency (FIA) to find two young girls missing since October, 2016, a local media outlet reported on Sunday.

Police in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan and Sindh have been requested to provide assistance in locating the missing girls. The two girls, who are cousins, lived within the limits of the Khanna police station near Zia Masjid. In addition, a record of unidentified bodies that have been buried or were kept in morgue since 2016 has also been sought from all provinces.

The Police have been searching for the girls named Samia (17 years-old) and Hadeeba Ashraf (16 years-old) since December, 2016 after their parents lodged an FIR with the police.

A yellow notice is issued by Interpol and acts as a global alert to help find a missing person. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Ashraf Shah, the girls went missing on October 17, 2016 and had informed their parents where they were going. He added that having asked the FIA for assistance, he could confirm that they did not travel abroad and that they may be found soon with the help of geo-fencing.  In addition, they did not leave any letter before leaving.

Inspector General of Police Islamabad sent a letter requesting assistance from the Punjab, KP, Balochistan and Sindh IGP’s over the matter as airports in Pakistan have been alerted in relation to the case.
