Three dead, several injured in road mishaps in Karachi

KARACHI: At least two people were killed and seven injured after an over speeding bus overturned near Korangi’s Veta Chowrangi area in the early hours on Sunday, reported a local news channel.

All victims of the accident were moved to a hospital for treatment, however, two of them could not make it as they succumbed to their wounds before reaching the venue for medical help.

Bus accidents are common in the city due to poorly controlled traffic. In a separate incident earlier this month, at least four people were killed and seven wounded when a bus carrying passengers from Multan to Rawalpindi collided with and a semi-trailer truck near Sahianwala Interchange.

Rescue sources report that the accident was a result of the bus driver’s negligence which caused one part of the bus to be completely destroyed.

In a separate accident, a man was killed and two others were critically injured in a road accident on Nothern Bypass area of the city on Sunday.

According to rescue sources, a 25-year-old man, Faraz, son of Zulfiqar, was hit by a fast-moving vehicle on Nothern Bypass area. As a result, he suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. However, Sameer, aged 11, son of Roshan and Awais, aged 18, were critically injured.

The body and injured were brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy and treatment respectively.
