AWARAN: At least six people died after drinking contaminated water in Balochistan, according to Kalat Commissioner Muhammad Hashim Ghilzai.
The commissioner also said that 120 patients were presently being treated for the same reasons at Jam Ghulam Qadir Hospital.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a special relief operation was conducted by the Pakistan Army at the government’s request.
Army medical teams treated the patients and a special helicopter was used to evacuate a considerable number of people so that medical aid could be given to them, according to the ISPR statement.
“In addition, around thousand litres of drinkable water, mosquito nets, ration packs, water tanks and hygiene kits have also been distributed amongst the local populace,” the ISPR statement read.
