Marriyum Aurangzeb says issue of censorship will be taken to parliament

LAHORE: While addressing an Iftar dinner that Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb hosted for journalists on Saturday, she said that the issue of censorship would be taken to parliament and gave her resignation in protest.

Aurangzeb said, “I have personally been under pressure to resign on the issue but I thought for how long the ministers would keep stepping down on such issues instead of taking them head-on.”

“For this reason, the government has decided to take the matter to parliament and although we cannot help organisations on the issue right now, parliament will discuss it and see how the matter can be contained,” she added.
