QUETTA: The counter-terrorism department of Balochistan police on Saturday registered an FIR [First Information Report] of the terrorist attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) Madadgar Centre on May 17.

The police told the media that the case has been registered on the complaint of FC constable Abdul Shakoor.

“The case includes sections on murder, attempted murder and anti-terrorism,” police said.

Motorway police officer Mohammad Idrees, one of the five security personnel who was injured in the attack, succumbed to his wounds on May 18.

According to the ISPR, the four soldiers wounded during the operation targeting Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) Balochistan chief Salman Badeni were being treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and Colonel Sohail Abid of the Military Intelligence (MI) had embraced martyrdom.

However, security personnel deployed at the centre were successful in gunning down all five terrorists who were attempting to drive their explosives-laden vehicle into the premises of the centre.

Eyewitnesses at the residential area where the attack took place, reported having heard multiple explosions, as well as, intermittent gunshots.

The militants mounted the attack in retaliation for the killing of Badeni, a day before the attack, in one of the city’s most secure neighbourhoods near Quetta cantonment.
