Ruckus in Punjab Assembly during last session

LAHORE: The tenure’s last session in Punjab Assembly witnessed ruckus and disputes between lawmakers of the opposing political parties during the concluding speeches.

Despite Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal requesting MPAs to sit on their seats and maintain order in the house, members belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) threatened each other and interrupted the speeches.

One such incident occurred, ruling party’s lawmakers protested the remarks of PPP’s Malik Umar Farooq and even the assembly’s speaker complained to him.

A brawl erupted between the lawmakers of ruling and opposition benches and they surrounded the area in front of speaker’s dice.

On Wednesday, the treasury passed 12 bills during the Punjab Assembly session on Wednesday before the completion of the government’s tenure on May 31. At the beginning of the session, the opposition members led by Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed came closer to the rostrum of Speaker Rana Iqbal, raising slogans against the Sharif brothers and demanding punishment for ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on the charge of committing sedition.
