Another Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker has joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday, along with two former legislators.

According to details, PML-N lawmaker Jaffar Leghari after meeting Imran Khan in Lahore, announced to join PTI.

Jaffar Leghari’s decision was also endorsed by member of National Assembly (MNA) Dr Meena Leghari and ex-senator Mohsin Leghari, who also announced their decision to join Imran Khan’s party.

The trend of defections has badly hurt PML-N hard in the last couple of months after eight lawmakers quit the ruling party in April and instead joined PTI. The deserters included six MNAs and two members of provincial assembly (MPAs), who later announced to launch a movement for the creation of a new province in south Punjab.

PML-N MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar had also joined PTI on April 8. Kumar was elected to NA on a minority seat on a PML-N ticket after the elections of 2013.

Earlier in March, MNA Nisar Jutt had also departed from the ruling party to join PTI along with members of his group. Before that, the ruling party had lost two lawmakers from Gujranwala to Khan’s party.

Other notable personalities who joined PTI in the last year included Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Nazar Gondal, Babar Awan and Firdous Ashiq Awan.

PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s aide had also joined PTI in May 2017. Similarly, former Sindh Chief Minister Liaquat Jatoi had switched to PTI from PML-N.
