LAHORE: The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has issued a terrorism threat alert to the Punjab government while advising extensive security measures to avoid any untoward incident.
According to a letter addressed to the Punjab home secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Punjab Rangers Director General (DG), terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Fazalullah Group including a suicide bomber have reached the provincial capital.
“Their likely targets include Chinese interests/establishments, LEAs and intelligence agencies,” reads the letter and adds that other soft targets cannot be ruled out either.
While the letter – dated May 16 – advises extreme vigilance and heightened security measures across the city, it may be noted that Punjab IG Captain (r) Arif Nawaz Khan on Thursday issued the orders to field officers including CCPO, RPOs and DPOs to beef up the security across Punjab in a bid to avoid any untoward situation.
