ISLAMABAD: The launch ceremony of different wings of human development under the auspices of World Humanity Commission (WHC) and Global Learning Trust (GLT) was held here on Thursday.

“It is only through education that masses are alleviated from poverty and the provision of equal opportunities can be ensured,” said GLT Ambassador and WHC President Rubina Ali, while addressing the gathering at the launch.

Rubina said that it was difficult to reach out to all the people of Pakistan by sitting in Islamabad. “That’s why we made contact with the community set up at the district level to be well-versed about the problems of humanity,” she said adding that her organisation aims to work in diverse sectors like education, health, gender, interfaith harmony, SME, industry, and community development among other fields.

Established in 2005, GLT is a non-profit organisation. It is a multidisciplinary-NGO/trust which started its operations in Gawadar and later on expanded with permanent offices in Islamabad (Head Office), Quetta, Gawadar, Pasni, Musa Khel, Loralai, Qila Saifullah, and Dalbandin.

GLT aims to act as a bridge between traditional and modern systems of governance and society. “Its effectiveness in managing complex programmes and collaborations with an international network of partners allows us to work in a variety of sectors,” Rubina apprised the gathering.

The trust is also focused on social transformation through its work on peace and interfaith harmony under peace, interfaith harmony and prosperity wing at the district level.

It further deals with tribal issues, federal government projects like the Benazir Income Support Programme/Navtec, Afghan Refugees special projects under the SAFRON Ministry/UNHCR and incorporates youth initiatives under the youth wing for city government, women empowerment, gender and social mobilisation under farmers association as cross-cutting themes in all of its work.
