ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday ordered to suspend the death sentence awarded to the mastermind of the attack on Bacha Khan University, Akbar Ali.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, who was presiding over a two-member bench, directed that the complete record of the case be submitted by the military court while adjourning the hearing for an indefinite period.
It is imperative to mention that Akbar Ali had been awarded a death sentence earlier by a military court after 22 people were killed after radicals armed with guns and bombs targeted the university in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on January 20.
Three days later, on January 23 five facilitators of the attack had been arrested, however, only four were presented in front of the media.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations Director General (DG ISPR), Taliban commander Umer Mansoor and his deputy Zakir were responsible for orchestrating the attack.
