LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore on Wednesday arrested Nazar Muhammad, Nadeem Ahmed, and Naeem Ahmed, Management of Ferozpur City Housing Scheme, Lahore over allegations of cheating public at large by selling thousands of illegal plots’ files worth billions of rupees.
According to the details, the inquiry against the management of Ferozpur City Housing Scheme, Lahore and others, was authorised by the NAB Lahore director general (DG) in April following the allegations of involvement of accused in the commission of offence of corrupt practices and cheating the public at large.
According to the revelations during the course of the inquiry, it conferred that all accused, in connivance with each other, launched an illegal housing scheme namely Ferozpur City Housing Scheme at Ferozpur Road, Lahore in 2016 and managed to collect hefty amounts ranging from Rs1-2 billion from around 5000 affectees on the pretext of booking of residential and commercial plots in the fake housing scheme.
The accused launched massive advertisement campaign and began selling illegal files of plots to the general public despite the fact that the fake scheme was yet to be registered with Lahore Development Authority (LDA), whereas, LDA also issued a show cause notice to the alleged owners of the said housing scheme to prevent them from selling of files/plots and from running an advertisement campaign.
It is pertinent to mention here that NAB Lahore got an advertisement published in different newspapers against the administration of Ferozpur Housing Society on May 6 for obtaining claims from the general public and in this regard, hundreds of claimants have approached NAB Lahore so far.
NAB officials will carry out the physical remand of all three accused till May 31 to facilitate further Inquiry, interrogation and the recovery of looted money.
