LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to complete probe against Customs and Intelligence Director General (DG) Shaukat Ali as soon as possible and present a report in the court.
The court gave directives on the petition filed by an applicant, Syed Amir Shabbir, against Shaukat Ali. The court also directed NAB and FIA chiefs to cooperate in conducting the investigation against the suspected DG.
Syed Amir Ali made a party to Shaukat Ali, Customs Director Jahanzeb, customs deputy director, FBR chairman, NAB chairman and director general in the case. The petitioner said that many applications against Shaukat Ali’s corruption and misuse of power have been received.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shaukat Ali and his loyal associates were threatening the petitioner of dire consequences. The petitioner is also receiving threatening calls from various numbers.
The petitioner informed the court that he has been threatened to take the case back, otherwise, he would be framed in fake cases.
The court was also informed that an application against Shaukat’s corruption and malpractice was sent to NAB and following the application, NAB dispatched the file to FIA officials to initiate an investigation against Shaukat Ali.
The relevant officer, however, refused to release the relevant record to FIA officials. The petitioner requested the court to take notice of the refusal.
After listing the arguments, the court directed NAB and FIA officials to complete the delay in inquiry against the suspected person and submit a report to the court.
