DAG submits reply in appointment of US ambassador case

ISLAMABAD: The Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Wednesday submitted a summary in a sealed envelope to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) regarding the appointment of Ali Jahangir Siddiqui as Ambassador to the United States (US).

Justice Athar Minallah of IHC heard the case filed by Shehzad Saddique Alvi Advocate challenging the appointment of US Ambassador.

During the proceeding, the amicus curiae nominated by bench including former ambassador to US Jahangir Ashraf Qazi, former Ministry of Foreign Affairs secretaryInam ul Haq, senior lawyer Makhdoom

Ali Khan and Baber Sattar Advocate submitted their written reply with the court.

The Deputy Attorney General informed the court that Attorney General Ashtar Osaf couldn’t attend

the proceeding as he was on a visit to abroad. He submitted the written reply to the court on behalf of Attorney General.

The bench, however, adjourned the hearing of the case till May 18.
