Sindh Government has allegedly remained unable to pay the cash award to the players of the Pakistan Street Child Football team, that was promised to them by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in 2014.

The cash award was announced as an appreciation for the Bronze medal won by the team at the Street Child World Cup, held in Brazil in 2014.

This was mentioned by the official account of the Football Pakistan in a tweet on Wednesday. The tweet reads, “Requesting Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sherry Rehman, whatever the outcome of Street Child World Cup final is, please don’t call the players to take pictures with them and announce financial rewards, because you still haven’t paid the last batch from 4 years ago.”

In April 2014, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari hosted the Pakistan Street Child Football team at the Bilawal House where he congratulated each player for their performance at the Street Child Football World Cup in Brazil.

On the occasion, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also announced an award of Rs100,000 award for each player that has still not been received by the players, according to the aforementioned tweet.

Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Sherry Rehman, MNA Faryal Talpur, Jameel Soomro, Qadir Patel, Sharmila Faruqi also attended the event. They took photos with the team on this occasion as well.

The Pakistani Street Child Football team won the bronze medal in the 2014 Street Child World Cup and was placed third after defeating the United States team.

Pakistan Street Child Football team will be facing Uzbekistan in the final of the 2018 Street Child World Cup on Wednesday in Russia.

This will be the first ever final for the team.
