LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has asked for details of the recent transgender bill passed by the Senate after a petition was filed in the court pertaining to basic rights of the transgender community.
LHC’s Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza presided over the hearing.
The petition talks about basic rights of the transgender community and identifies how these rights are denied to the community.
The petitioner’s lawyer lamented that members of the transgender community were being called by derogatory names by their fellow Pakistanis.
Justice Mirza adjourned the hearing until June 29.
