Sindh WDD inaugurates helpline for women protection

KARACHI: Sindh’s Women Development Department Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Irum Khalid inaugurated women helpline service 1094 at Directorate of Women Development Department (WDD) on Tuesday for the protection and progress of the women.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that the government is trying to work for the welfare of women to the best of their abilities. She said, “I am happy that in our tenure, WDD has a special popularity among people and we have done a lot for the development and empowerment in Sindh, as in previous government time, no one knew about this department.”

WDD Secretary Haroon Ahmed Khan in his address welcomed the chief guest and all the guests for attending the programme. He further said women are the pillars of society and the department will encourage their participation in all the fields of life for the betterment of women in Sindh. He also assured the cooperation of the department with all the government stakeholders and relevant organisations to run the women helpline.

On this occasion, Social Welfare Secretary Aliya Shahid congratulated WDD, specially Irum Khalid for her continuous efforts for launching helpline for women.

She informed that helpline is already working for child protection at the Social Welfare Department and to running a helpline is a challenging task. She wished the WDD the success in implementation of helpline and also emphasised on the cooperation of both the departments.
