ISLAMABAD: A police officer who is already facing charges of manhandling former chief justice of Pakistan Chaudhary Iftikhar, urged the Supreme Court to initiate similar proceedings against five ex-army officers who held Chaudhary hostage at Army House in Marchi 2007, reported a local English newspaper.
A five-member larger bench of the top court, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, was hearing appeals filed by former officers of Islamabad capital administration and police officers.
All of these officers have been convicted of manhandling former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhary.
Ibrahim Satti, the counsel of one of the police officers, wondered why the top court did not initiate contempt of court proceedings against top army officers, who held the former chief justice hostage, for several hours in 2007.
