PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Monday sealed eight factories for violating food safety laws, a local media outlet reported.

According to a statement, the food authority team raided the Hamdard factory in Hayatabad. It was found that the department producing ‘a popular drink’ was shut down for using stale fruits as an ingredient of the drink.

Moreover, three other factories located in the same area were sealed for not following the food safety laws.

Separately, in another operation carried out in Bacha Khan Chowk, it was found that three spice units were using crushed wooden and flour wastes along with rotten garlic for their products. The units also lacked hygiene and cleanliness.

Furthermore, a water plant was sealed in Swat and 400 litres of adulterated milk was destroyed in Mingora city.
