ISLAMABAD: The two accused in the murder of Italian girl of Pakistani origin, Sana Cheema, have been arrested by police from New Islamabad Airport after the FIA thwarted their attempt to flee the country.

According to airport sources, accused Ijaz Khizar and Faraz Khizar were attempting to flee to Istanbul when they were arrested by FIA. Sources further said that FIA has contacted Jhelum police for their custody.

It is pertinent to recall that on April 18, in a village Mangowal Ghurbi of Gujrat, 26-year-old Sana’s death reports came to fore. The family had declared the death as natural and buried her.

Later on, reports on social and Italian media came to light, alleging that Sana Cheema had been killed.  Following the investigation, her body was exhumed from the grave and forensic reports revealed that she had been strangulated to death.

According to the police, it has come to light that she wanted to marry in Italy and her father and family were against it. They said that victim’s father Ghulam Mustafa, brother Adnan Mustafa and uncle Mazahar Iqbal have been arrested.
