Three including ex-MNA’s son shot dead in North Waziristan

PESHAWAR: Three people, including a son of former lawmaker and a teacher, have been killed in separate gun attacks in Mir Ali Area of North Waziristan since Saturday night.

According to the political administration, the teacher was shot dead in his house in Ziraki, while former MNA Maulana Deendar’s son was killed in a similar incident in Khasukhel area of Mir Ali tehsil in the agency.

Later on, a man identified as Aziz-ur-Rehman was shot dead near his home in Miranshah on Sunday.

Following the attack, locals took the streets against the killings, demanding security for their area.

The assailants fled the scene after the attack. The security forces reached the site and cordoned off the whole area as a search operation is underway.

Meanwhile, the dead bodies were shifted to nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.

On April 27, at least three people were killed and 30 injured when a wedding ceremony was bombed at village Saidgee of Tehsil Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan Agency.

Women were also among the dead. Five children were injured and were shifted to Miran Shah and Bannu hospitals. Several others who were injured received critical injuries.

Officials in Miran Shah said that the attackers remain unknown. Hearing the bomb explosion, neighbouring tribesmen rushed to the site, participated in rescue activities. Civil administration officials said that the investigation is underway.

Further, on April 22, one security official was martyred, while three others were injured in an explosion in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan Agency.

According to government officials, officials from the Bomb Disposal Unit were targeted while disposing of an explosive device. Subsequently, one was martyred while three others were injured.
