RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has been unable to conclude two road projects that are worth Rs500 million within this fiscal year due to slow funding.

An RDA official said, “RDA’s had earmarked six projects under the ADP but the Punjab government released funds only for two road projects, that too in parts.”

“Slow funding was the main reason and the civic body failed to complete the work on the roads. We received Rs150 million for the road connecting Airport Road with Tipu Road while the allocation was Rs250 million,” the official added.

Another official of the authority said that the acquisition of landed was another issue due to which the projects could not be completed.

Rs1.4 billion was required for the acquisition of land but the funds were not released by the government, he also said.

RDA Chief Engineer Ather Hussain Bukhari said, “Dry Port Road is a two-year project and the RDA is utilising the money released by the provincial government.”
