Deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz claimed on Sunday that media has been strictly told not to highlight the clarification issued by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regarding the party’s supremo in which he criticised Pakistan’s foreign policy in a reference to the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
In a tweet, the ex-PM’s daughter wrote, “Media has been strictly told NOT to highlight PMLN clarification & step up the propaganda. Seems the planners are very desperate.”

She also shared PML-N’s clarification in which the ruling party said, “Nawaz Sharif needs no certificate from anybody on their commitment and to capacity preserve, protect and promote Pakistan’s national security.”
Moreover, Maryam stated that Sharif’s statement was in the best interest of country. “Whatever Mian Sab [read Nawaz Sharif] said was in the best interest of the country. Nobody knows better than him which disease is crippling the country. He is also telling the cure,” tweeted Maryam.
Nawaz, in a recent interview to a leading English daily, had said, “Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?”
His remarks were played up by the Indian media as an admission of Pakistan’s involvement in the terrorist attacks.
Meanwhile, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) suggested Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to discuss “misleading media statement on the Mumbai incident”.
ISPR DG Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted, “NSC meeting suggested to Prime Minister to discuss recent misleading media statement regarding Bombay incident. Being held tomorrow morning.”
