Meesha Shafi rides with women at the WOW rally

Meesha Shafi on Sunday mocked her haters while participating at the Women on Wheels rally in Lahore by asking, “Did somebody say I fled to Canada?”

She shared her “liberating experience” at the rally and tweeted, “Riding with these amazing women at the #WOW #WomenOnWheels rally today! Did somebody say I fled to Canada? LOL This is Egerton Rd Lahore.”

Following the huge controversy in which singer Meesha accused colleague and singer-actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment, reports have surfaced on social media that  Meesha Shafi plans to permanently move to Canada with her husband, Mahmood Rahman and two children.

According to numerous Instagram and Twitter handles, Meesha Shafi deleted her official Facebook and Instagram account accounts and plans to relocate to Canada following the ugly fallout after she made publically alleged Ali Zafar of sexually harassing her.

Twitter user Danish Amir stated, “According to reports Meesha Shafi along with her husband and two children is permanently moving to Canada. Previously, she also has deactivated her official Facebook and Instagram accounts”.

After these rumours surfaced, it was clarified that Meesha Shafi was not moving to Canada permanently. She only deleted her social media accounts “due to threats, slander and bullying”.

The pop singer encouraged girls to ride bikes as she said: “Be mobile! Be vocal! There is strength in numbers. #WomenOnWheels super initiative by the Punjab govt! Would love to see it flourish in a sustainable way.”

While praising the initiative taken by the government, she hoped that women would continue to flourish. She also met real-life ‘motorcycle girl’ Zenith Irfan and survivor of brutal stabbing incident Khadija Siddiqi.
