CJP pleased with condition of Karachi jail

KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has expressed satisfaction over the overall situation of the Karachi Central Jail.

Justice Nisar visited the jail to inspect the medical facilities, kitchens and prisoners barracks, which he termed as satisfactory. Moreover, he compared the arrangements to other provinces and lauded the efforts made by the jail authorities.

The prisoners and under-trial prisoners also spoke to the CJP and conveyed their reservations. They said that despite completing their jail sentences, they were still being kept in jail. However, he assured them that if their sentences are over, they will be released soon.

Subsequently, the CJP ordered the jail authorities to present a report regarding prisoners whose term at the jail has ended but are still incarcerated.
