LAHORE: As part of the Women on Wheels (WOW) project, motorbikes will be given to 300 women at Al Hamra Hall on Sunday.

These women have been imparted with necessary driving skills and after receiving their vehicles they will ride them in the form of a group on the Mall Road.

The WOW project was initiated by the Chief Minister Punjab’s Strategic Reforms Unit (SRU) and aided by the Bank of Punjab and the Transport Department.

At least 3,500 women have been trained to ride a motorbike under this project in Punjab.

The SRU introduced this project as a way to empower marginalised women in Punjab and to enhance their independence and mobility.

The Provincial Development Forum (PDF) of the Planning and Development Department (PDD) provided Rs80 million for the WOW project, according to Salman Sufi, the architect of the project.
