KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday ordered the commission tasked with checking the quality of milk being sold in the open market to continue scrutiny of packaged and spurious milk.
During the hearing on Saturday at Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry, the chief justice remarked that ban should be lifted from the companies that are cleared through scrutiny.
“Commission should again carry out a scrutiny of the milk being packed by Millac,” the CJP ordered, adding that children’s health was at stake therefore there should be no compromise on this matter.
The chief justice further ordered to print “This is not milk” on the packs and tins of Skimillac milk powder.
Earlier, the top court banned the sale of four companies for selling substandard packaged milk.
Hearing the sui moto case at Karachi’s Registry, the apex court has ordered the ban to be implemented with immediate effect after laboratory tests failed to convince the bench on quality of milk supplied.
