LAHORE: The government of Punjab on Friday announced to hold another Women on Wheels (WoW) rally in Lahore on May 13 at Alhamra Arts Centre.
Renowned journalist, documentary filmmaker and rights activist late Asma Jahangir’s daughter Munizae Jahangir posted a video on social media in which she said that asked the women who ride a motorbike to come and join her in the rally. She said that independent means of transport is a symbol of self-reliance.

Such rallies have been held in the past as well under the Punjab government’s Strategic Reforms Unit’s (SRU) initiative to provide thousands of women in Punjab motorbikes on subsidized rates through a balloting process. This is one of Punjab’s initiative to give more public space to women to achieve gender equality.
The scheme was introduced in 2015
