ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday said that sugar mill owners are crushing farmers instead of sugarcane.
During the hearing of the sugar mills case, the CJP stated that Brothers Sugar Mill is indebted to farmers for the work they did last year and did not crush any sugar during the current year.
“They will have to pay the dues,” he said.
Justice Aijazul Ahsan inquired if the previous dues would be cleared by the current mill administration and summoned the incumbent and previous administrations to clear the matter. He further directed Mian Nishat, Humayun Rasheed and Aslam Bashir to appear in person.
The three were ordered to bring a record of the sales details that the mill administered, as well as a record of the court proceedings that have taken place up till now.
