KASUR: A 20-year-old girl, Farzana Bibi, was strangled to death on Wednesday in an alleged ‘honour killing’ case in Beigpur village, a local media house reported.

According to reports, Farzana was killed by her father and brother over ‘honour’. The girl’s father, identified as Hakim Ali, along with his son, Amjad, strangled Farzana while she was asleep on Tuesday night.

The body has been sent to the District Headquarter Hospital for an autopsy.

It was found that the deceased wanted to marry Ahmad of the same village, but her family opposed her.

Earlier, Farzana allegedly eloped with Ahmad to contract court marriage. However, this issue was raised by her father in a ‘panchayat’, who decided that the girl should be returned to her parents, at the earliest.

The police claimed to have arrested Amjad and are looking further into the matter.
