Six school students injured in stampede after earthquake

ISLAMABAD: At least six school students were injured in a stampede in Bannu after earthquake tremors struck the northern parts of the country including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), FATA and Islamabad on Wednesday morning. However, no loss of life was reported.

According to the details, six students got injured in Government School, Tanchi Bazar, Banu in a stampede aftershock of the earthquake in the area.

Rescue teams shifted the injured to the hospital for treatment.

Earlier, tremors of Earthquake were felt in Islamabad along with Peshawar, Nowshera, and Kohat.

Tremors were also felt in Swat, Malakand division, Manshera, Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Abbottabad, and Mardan.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude of the quake was recorded 5.1 on the Richter scale.

According to reports, the tremors were felt between 8.15am and 8.30am. People felt the jolts for about 20 seconds.

A spokesman of Pakistan Meteorological Department said that the epicentre was near Bannu in KP. Its depth was recorded at 10 kilometres.
