KARACHI: The Sindh High Court retracted the ‘restrictive orders’ issued to the power utility K-Electric (K-E), over Karachi Metropolitan’s (KMC) complaint against discontinuation of electrical connection to local body institutions.
A two-member bench led the trial, where the K-E lawyer Abid Zubairi stated that the stay order was taken without paying K-Electric its dues of Rs230 million.
Following the claim, Zubairi requested the court to revoke the stay order.
Earlier, the court had restrained K-E from discontinuing the supply of electricity.
In its application, KMC indicated that the power utility had been discontinuing the supply of electricity to municipality institutions. Having said that, KMC’s institutions are part of the government, hence the discontinuation of electricity is illegal and it was affecting KMC’s work.
The application also stated that K-E should be barred from cutting off the electrical connection of KMC institutions.
