PTI terminates membership of 14 MPs in KP Assembly

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday terminated the membership of 14 lawmakers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly after the expiry of the period given to them to submit reply to the show-cause notices served by the party over allegations of selling votes in Senate elections.

The decision about six MPAs would be taken in two days, said PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai.

The MPAs expelled from the party are Nargis Bibi, Deena Naz, Nageena Khan, Naseem Hayat, Yasin Khalil, Qurban Khan, Ziaullah Afridi, Amjad Afridi, Obaidullah Mayar, Zahid Durrani, Wajihuzzaman, Javed Nasim, Abdul Haq and Khatoon Bibi.

Yousafzai said the PTI Chairman Imran Khan had issued show-cause notices to eighteen party MPAs and two MPAs supporting the PTI in the KP Assembly for casting their votes to candidates of other parties.

The committee constituted under the chairmanship of Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaisar to probe the charges of selling votes by the PTI MPAs, would consult the KP CM about taking decisions on the reply submitted by the MPAs served with show cause notice.

Only MPAs Arif Yusaf, Fouzia Bibi, Samiullah Alizai, Mairaj Humayun, Faisal Zaman and Sardar Idrees submitted their reply on the show cause notices to the party leadership.

Last month, the PTI chief had decided to expel his party’s 20 MPAs belonging to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) if they failed to give a satisfactory response to the show-cause notices which are to be issued to them over alleged horse-trading in the Senate polls. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Imran Khan revealed the names of his party’s MPAs in the KP Assembly who were found involved in horse-trading in the Senate elections last month.
