‘Fake’ organisations using armed forces’ name, warns federal government: report

RAWALPINDI: The federal government has said that ‘fake’ organisations are operational in Sindh and Punjab purporting to represent the federal government and the armed forces, a local media outlet reported on Monday.

A letter sent to all provincial, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir governments in addition to the chief commissioner Islamabad directed respective authorities to track the activities of such groups and take legal action.

The organisations are presenting themselves as employees of the Pakistan Army or the top intelligence agency, using senior officers’ photographs on their business cards or pamphlets.

In addition to the letter, the federal government also sent documentary evidence of these organisations such as official paperwork or pamphlets.
