LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has started interviews for aspirants of national and provincial assemblies.

Pakistan Today has learned that the party has received 3,026 applications through the online system for central Punjab alone and the candidates have been asked to appear in person and have separate meetings with their respective presidents.

In the first phase, the national and provincial assemblies’ candidates from Lahore have been asked to appear before PTI Central Punjab President Aleem Khan. After Lahore, candidates from Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Sialkot, Hafizabad and Kasur will come to Lahore and appear before Aleem Khan for the interviews.

PTI MPA Shoaib Siddiqui said that the party’s parliamentary board would meet between May 14 and 20 and would finalise the candidates. He said that PTI has started preparations for  2018 general elections and hoped that the party would win the elections with thumping majority.

On Monday, Khan held interviews of the candidates at the party’s chairman secretariat in Garden Town.  He said that the party has formed a 10-member dispute resolution committee under the supervision of senior leader Mian Afzal Hayat to resolve the issues and complaints of candidates from every constituency and at every forum.

He said that the party is taking oath from the candidate on ethical grounds and it will come in the election in a better and united way.  He said that even Chairman Imran Khan’s ticket has not been finalised as yet and the parliamentary board would take the decision in this regard. He further said that the party has not decided the name for the next Punjab chief minister and would decide this at the later stage if it wins 2018 general elections.

“The party’s parliamentary board constituted for Punjab will take the final decision,” he said.

He claimed that PTI would defeat Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the next elections and PML-N will have to bite the dust at every forum.

Meanwhile, Union Council chairmen from Narowal District belonging to PML-N on Monday met Aleem Khan and announced joining the party. They included Syed Noor, Arshad Khan, Muhammad Hafeez Chaudhry, Hafiz Imtinan, Tauqeer Afzal, Naveed Khan, Muhammad Asim and others.

PTI Central Vice President Muhammad Shoaib Sidduue, former Lahore secretary general Mian Iftikhar and Rana Nadeem were also present on this occasion.
