ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday called upon the international community to raise its voice against the brutal Indian oppression in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK) and urged the world leaders to save the women, children and youth of occupied Kashmir from violence.

On the recent spate of atrocities committed by the Indian security forces in IOK, he also called upon the United Nations (UN) to play its role to stop the bloodbath of Kashmiris and provide them with a chance to exercise the right of self- determination, a statement released from the PM House said.

PM Abbasi’s strong reaction comes in the wake of recent incidents of Indian state terrorism that killed 14 people in the past 36 hours.

He said denial of access to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission was a proof of Indian oppression in the valley and their attempts to cover up mass human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

He said Pakistan was concerned over the escalation of systematic brutalities, killing of innocent civilians, and human rights violations by the Indian security forces.

He further said that Indian security forces had recently unleashed a reign of terror against the Kashmiri people by detaining the Hurriyat leadership and attacking peaceful protesters with pellet guns and live fire.

“The continued inhuman oppression committed by India against five generations of Kashmiris struggling for a just, fair and legitimate right to self-determination, raises a question mark on the collective conscience of the world,” he added.

Abbasi said, “Pakistan denounces Indian state terrorism in the strongest terms and would continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir to achieve their right to self-determination under the UN Charter and in accordance with the UNSC resolutions.”
