Inquiry ordered against NAB officer for attempting to steal sensitive documents

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Monday ordered an inquiry against a NAB officer for attempting to steal important and sensitive documents from the bureau’s headquarters in Islamabad, said NAB spokesman.

According to him, NAB’s security guard thwarted the attempt to steal documents and the chairman has rewarded him with cash and appreciation certificate for catching the officer red-handed. He, however, did not confirm whether the documents were related to the cases and references involving Sharif family or not.

It is still unclear why the NAB officer was attempting to steal those documents or which cases did they relate to, NAB spokesman added.

It is pertinent to mention here that a private media outlet had reported that those documents were related to corruption references of Sharif family and an attempt was made to bring them out from the premises of NAB headquarter.

On Monday, NAB issued a press statement and disclosed that NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal awarded a cash prize of Rs10,000 and an appreciation certificate to NAB’s security guard Abid Hussain for the performance of his duties with diligence and dedication.
