ISLAMABAD: The federal government appointed Dr Muhammad Suleman Khan, a grade-22 officer of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), as the director general (DG) of Intelligence Bureau (IB), said a notification issued on Monday.
Dr Muhammad Suleman Khan was serving as IB’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief as a grade-21 officer, and was promoted to grade-22 and posted as IB DG after the post fell vacant after the third extension of former PSP officer Aftab Sultan ended in the first week of April this year.
The prime minister had earlier accorded approval for the Suleman Khan’s appointment as the new chief. Under Khan’s supervision, IB conducted a successful counter-terrorism and counter-intelligence operation in collaboration with other agencies.
In another notification, Mehr Khaliq Dad Lak, a BS-22 officer of PSP presently serving in IB, was transferred and posted “as National Police Academy (NPA) commandant under interior division, with immediate effect and until further orders.”
Meanwhile, Dr Ijaz Munir, a BS-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), presently posted as Azad Kashmir chief secretary, was promoted to BS-22 in that service as secretary to the government of Pakistan. On promotion, Dr Ijaz Munir was transferred and posted as Aviation Division secretary with immediate effect and until further orders.
Furthermore, Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda, a BS-21 officer of Pakistan Customs Service, presently posted as Directorate General of Training and Research (Customs) Karachi DG under Federal Board of Revenue, was transferred and posted as Commerce Division additional secretary with immediate effect and until further orders.
