Police file charge sheet against seminary teacher in rape, extortion case: report

KARACHI: Police submitted a charge sheet on Friday against a seminary teacher in an extortion and rape case, before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) administrative judge, reported a local media outlet.

The suspect, a 60-year-old, allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage student at his seminary in Korangi, filmed the offence and blackmailed the girl’s parents after she got married.

Police arrested the perpetrator on April 4.

The charge sheet submitted by police claims that the teacher raped his student a few years ago and recorded the act. Later, he blackmailed the girl’s parents to extort money after she got married.

Three other victims from the same locality revealed themselves during the investigation and a judicial magistrate recorded their statements under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, according to the investigation report.

The investigation officer named 10 prosecution witnesses in the report.

The case was sent to ATC-I for trial.

The case is lodged under Sections 376 and 384 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
